Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • You must be a Nigerian citizen who is an indigene of any of the Nigerian states. Temporary visitors or students abroad are not eligible.
  • You must be between 15 and 40 years old. 
  • You should be an emerging talent or grassroots inventor, not a fully-funded startup.

 

  • All applicants are expected to submit
    • An application via the NASENI Innovation Hub Website.(https://innovation.naseni.gov.ng).
    • A  2 minute video pitch via instagram and twitter showcasing their innovation and its societal impact and tagging NASENI and NASENI Innovation Hub on Instagram (@nasenihq, @nasenhub), and on  X, formerly known as Twitter (@NASENIHQ, @Nasenihub).
    • Using the following mandatory hashtags: #InnovateNaija, #NASENI #NASENIInnovationHub #YouthInnovation #NASENIImpact.

 

  • All applicants must submit a 2-minute video pitch.  That should showcase your innovative product and its potential societal impact.
  • The video should be clear, engaging, and effectively communicate the problem, solution, and impact in the allotted 2 minutes.
  • Your video should be in the following format and size: MP4, MOV, Max 100MB.
  • The innovation must be a hardware innovation. Software solutions are not eligible for this challenge. 
  • The solution should demonstrate originality, creativity, and a novel approach to solving a societal problem. 
  • It must address a pressing societal issue and have the potential to create meaningful and sustainable impact.
  • Your hardware product or invention should be practical, achievable, and have the potential for growth and wider adoption across Nigeria.

The application will be open for four weeks. From September 4, 2025 to midnight October 4, 2025.

Your product must be at the Prototype or Fully Developed stage. Ideas are not eligible.

Your product must be within the science, engineering, and manufacturing sector.

Yes, your innovation must be original and created by you or your team.

Your innovation must solve a local problem or improve community life and be applicable or adaptable to the Nigerian context and the rest of Africa.

No, you can submit your application in the English language only

Yes, applications are open to individuals or teams. If applying as a team, one member must be designated as the primary contact.

Not at all!  Simple or no technology solutions are welcome. While tech-enabled solutions are great, they are not a requirement.

Each applicant or team can only submit ONE innovation.

Yes, each applicant or team must have at least an Instagram handle or account.

All voting will take place exclusively via website, ensuring transparency and accessibility for participants and supporters.

Selection will be made in 3 categories

  • State Level (37 Top Entries)
  • National Level (15 Top Entries)
  • Final Pitching & Award Ceremony in Abuja (Top 3 Entries)

Yes, there are cash prizes up for grabs at the different stages of the challenge. The grand winner will receive a grant of N100 million to further develop and scale their product.

A "something went wrong" error message can appear during the application process for a few reasons. To avoid this, please check the following:

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection. A poor connection can interrupt the process.
  • Check the size of your video files. Videos over 100MB can cause an error.
  • Make sure all required fields are filled out. The application won't submit if any fields are incomplete.

Lastly, clear your browser cache to fix browser issues.
